Rowdy Youths Disrupt Peace in Chandigarh: Police Report

Late-night disorder in Dadumajra, Chandigarh: Six individuals charged for reckless stone-throwing, intimidation of public, and open display of weaponry.

There's trouble brewing in Chandigarh's Dadumajra Colony, as six young troublemakers have been identified by the local police for causing a ruckus and threatening bystanders late-night Tuesday. The suspects, known as Subhash, Ankit, Nikki, Sahil, Haseen, and Batti, have been captured on CCTV and additional individuals are yet to be identified. So far, the unruly bunch remains elusive, but the authorities are hot on their trail.

According to the police report, the chaos unfolded around 11.35 pm when constables Ashish and Vijay, on patrol in Maloya police station, came across rambunctious youths obstructing the road and pelting stones at innocent bystanders.

"As we approached, these hooligans began yelling and making threats before scramming on their motorcycles. One of the stones hit a woman, Rani Devi, on the forehead," stated constable Ashish in his written complaint. Fortunately, Devi received immediate medical attention from her family.

The constables continued their patrol when, around 12.10 am, they encountered the same miscreants near Sheetla Mata Mandir in Sector 38-West. "They were creating a commotion on their motorcycles, and when we tried to intervene, one bike lost control. In the chaos, I overheard names being shouted – Subhash, Sahil, Ankit, and Nikki. They were waving sticks, rods, and pistol-like weapons before fleeing again," constable Ashish added.

Devi, who received treatment for her injury, provided a written statement, confirming that she was struck on the forehead by a thrown stone while returning from work.

No gunfire was reported at the scene; however, based on the statements, a case has been registered under Sections 115(2), 126(2), 351(2), 191(2), and 190 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and Sections 25, 27, 54, and 59 of the Arms Act.

As the investigation continues, other reports suggest a separate incident in Dadumajra Colony, where a youth named Abhishek was allegedly stabbed near a school. The primary suspect in this case is Vishal, alias Babu, a resident of Dadu Majra Colony. A case was filed against him at the Maloya police station[3].

Cricket matches were postponed in several Chandigarh parks due to the ongoing chaos and disruption caused by the unruly groups, causing frustration among sports enthusiasts. Meanwhile, in the corner of General-News, there's a rising debate about the link between politics and crime rates, with some questioning if the increase in crimes like the recent ones in Dadumajra Colony could be linked to political instability or neglect.
