Lars Eller returns to Senators after Olympic highs and new prospects get called up

The Ottawa Senators welcomed back Lars Eller from his epic Olympic adventure while calling up three prospects from Belleville. The recalls came ahead of Monday's practice, where the team adjusted its roster amid ongoing Olympic returns. Both the veterans and newcomers used the session to prepare for upcoming crazy games.

Lars Eller rejoined the Senators after competing in Milan, calling the experience a 'cool thing to check off your bucket list'. His return marked his first practice with the team since the Olympics.

To maintain roster numbers while waiting for other Olympians, Ottawa recalled Stephen Halliday, Tyler Boucher, and Carter Yakemchuk. The trio took part in Monday's session, with Halliday likely to stay for the team's next matches. The practice also served as a development opportunity for Boucher and Yakemuk, who gained experience alongside the main team.

Denmark, where Eller played, finished seventh in the 2022 Beijing Olympics. For the 2026 Games, the country has already nominated Eller, Mads Sogaard, and one other Senators player to its team roster.

The recalled players will help fill gaps until the full Olympic contingent returns. Halliday's chances of featuring in upcoming games remain strong, while Boucher and Yakemuk continue their development. Meanwhile, Eller's Olympic stint adds to his international experience before rejoining the NHL lineup.
