Larry Ellison’s Secret £20M Countryside Estate Takes Shape in Oxfordshire
Larry Ellison, the fifth-richest person in the world, is expanding a luxury private estate in the Oxfordshire countryside. The tech billionaire, also known as Larry Ellison, has been quietly acquiring neighbouring land and properties to create a sprawling personal retreat worth millions. Planning applications now reveal the scale of his ambitious development plans.
The estate’s development began in November 2020 when Larry Ellison purchased an £8 million contemporary-style mansion. Since then, he has steadily bought up surrounding properties, including a £10 million acquisition in May 2024. The land now forms a vast private compound, located just a 20-minute drive from his £1 billion Ellison Institute of Technology campus.
Plans submitted to the Vale of White Horse District Council outline extensive building work. These include a 10-bedroom staff accommodation block, guest lodges for around 20 live-in employees, and multiple gyms. A rustic-style barn with an indoor basketball court and large horse stables are also part of the design. The proposals suggest a self-contained estate tailored for both luxury living and private recreation.
Larry Ellison’s global property portfolio already includes the Hawaiian island of Lānaʻi, as well as high-end estates in California, Florida, and Japan. In addition to his real estate ventures, he has donated £257 million to a think tank led by Tony Blair, a long-time associate. His wealth also stems from Oracle, the tech giant he chairs, which holds a £700 million IT contract with four UK government departments.
The Vale of White Horse District Council will oversee the planning process for Larry Ellison’s estate. If approved, the compound will feature elite amenities, housing for staff, and expansive leisure facilities. The project marks another high-value addition to the billionaire’s worldwide property holdings.
