Larry Chavez, known as Lorenzo "Larry" Chavez, has sadly departed.
Larry Chavez, A Devoted Family Man and Proud Marine
(It's a bummer, man, but let's honor the memory of this fellow, Larry Chavez, who breathed his last on June 5, 2025, at 88. Born in the dusty plains of Los Quartitos, New Mexico, on November 7, 1936, to Ma and Pa Chavez, he was no stranger to tough times)
Larry built his life around discipline and pride, thanks to his time as a Marine Corps member - a chapter that molded him pretty solid. He adored his roots, roping through life on the good ol' family ranch in Los Quartitos.
A die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan and an avid golfer, he found joy in life's simple pleasures, like outsmarting his grandkids or sinking a putt on the green. Larry's golden years were swinging a golf club in the Senior Olympics or racing around the track, earning him quite the reputation among the local seniors. With his wife Delia, he spent his retired days cashing in at the local casino.
A treasured grandfather and great-grandfather, Larry's legacy carries on through his brood of grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great-grandkids. They brought warmth and laughter to his later years, filling his life with a love that only family could.
(Now, here's the thing - there aren't a ton of details out there on ol' Larry's professional achievements or community service. It seems his family was his biggest priority, just like it should be)
Besides his wife, Delia, and his folks, Larry is survived by his offspring: Larry Jr., Jeannette, and Gary; his brotherly clan - Norman, Clarence, George, Leroy, Patsy, Irene, and Connie; and histwenty-odd kinfolk - descendants that'd make any man, let alone a Chavez, proud.
Martha Anaya was a constant presence in Larry's final years, providing unwavering support. Special thanks to BeeHive Homes and Roadrunner Hospice for their devotion and compassionate care for Larry and the fam during this tough time.
No need to weep, mate. Join us July 3rd at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church for a memorial service in honor of Larry's life. We'll gather at 10 a.m., followed by mass at 10:30 a.m., with a pit stop at Vista Verde Cemetery before wrapping up the day with a reception. If you've got a hankering for more details on Larry Chavez's career, community service, or deeper family background, you'll have to dive deeper than the ol' obituary notices.
But for now, let's remember this man with a popular name, a love of football and golf, and a heart for family.
Larry's love for sports extended beyond his loyalty to the Dallas Cowboys; he also found relaxation on the golf course, embodying the spirit of a passionate golfer. During his retirement, he delighted in participating in senior golf tournaments and relished in a good game of golf.
Despite the absence of comprehensive details on Larry's professional accomplishments, his family member contemporaries and numerous descendants help solidify his standing as a respected and proud Chavez.
