Large-scale investment of 15 million euros aimed at fostering social inclusion
In a recent announcement, Nicole Razavi, the Minister for Regional Development and Housing, revealed that 25 cities and municipalities in Baden-Württemberg will receive funding this year under the Land-owned Investment Package Baden-Württemberg Social Integration in the Neighborhood (Landes-SIQ).
The investment pact, which was launched by the Ministry in 2022, has seen a significant increase in demand this year, being oversubscribed by a factor of five. The funded projects aim to strengthen city and town centres, making them more vibrant and future-proof.
The funded projects include the new construction of kindergarten facilities, the modernisation of community houses, media libraries, or association rooms, and the development of playgrounds in urban renewal areas. This investment is expected to create good conditions for young families and supplement the landscape of Baden-Württemberg's urban development funding.
Since its launch in 2022, the Landes-SIQ has funded 81 municipalities with a total of 65 million euros. Notably, the specific cities and municipalities that will receive financial support in 2025, which have not been funded since 2022, are not explicitly listed. However, the state government has earmarked over 15 million euros for renovation projects focused on social integration in local quarters, particularly emphasising support for rural areas known for industry and energy production. This suggests that new or previously unsupported municipalities in these regions could be beneficiaries.
The total amount of funding for the projects in 2025 is 15.387.000 Euro. The funds are in high demand, with a total of 68 applications from cities and municipalities with a total volume of around 72 million euros received by the end of the application deadline.
The Landes-SIQ builds on the federal program of the same name, which ended in 2020. By investing in the development of community facilities and urban renewal areas, the pact aims to foster social integration and contribute to the overall well-being of Baden-Württemberg's cities and towns.
