In the heart of Germany, a unique and captivating sport is gaining traction - Hobby Horsing. This equestrian alternative, where participants ride stick horses (hobby horses) through courses and shows, is set to make its debut at the German Championships in Frankfurt this September.

Hobby Horsing, a sport that originated as a children's pastime, has grown into a recognised sport in parts of Europe, particularly in Finland. The nine girls from MTV Hoopte, a local sports club in Harburg, have been honing their skills and are ready to represent Germany on the national stage.

The girls, along with their parents and sponsors, have already tasted international success, having attended the World Championships. The experience was nothing short of fantastic for them, as they returned with multiple placements in various categories. Last year, Anabell Harms, one of the club's members, made her World Championship debut and is now gearing up for an even more intense training year.

Training for Hobby Horsing requires courage and hard work. Jumping hobby horses over heights ranging from 60 centimeters to 1.20 meters is no easy feat. But for the MTV Hoopte team, it's all part of the thrill. The girls, aged between 12 and 17, come from various locations, including Ahrensburg and Hambergen, to train together.

The sport has become a trend, with more clubs offering it and training groups available in the Lüneburg area. MTV Hoopte started offering Hobby Horsing training in 2019, and since then, they've been making waves in the world of Hobby Horsing. Last year, they made history by participating in the world's largest Hobby Horsing event in Finnish Seinäjoki, where they brought home 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places in various categories.

Anabell Harms, a shining star from MTV Hoopte, encourages those skeptical about Hobby Horsing to give it a try. She believes that once you experience the sport, you'll understand its appeal. Hobby Horsing, after all, combines elements of equestrian sports and athletics, offering a creative and accessible way for young people to explore their passion for horses and competition.

As the first-ever German Championships approach, the MTV Hoopte team is ready to showcase their skills and continue to make Hobby Horsing a household name in Germany. Whether you're a horse lover or an athletic enthusiast, Hobby Horsing promises an exciting spectacle that is not to be missed.

Other sports enthusiasts might find the sport-analysis of Hobby Horsing intriguing, as it has been growing in popularity across Europe and is now set to make its debut at the German Championships.
