Large American Musical Group Forced to Scratch UK and European Performances Following 'Straange Mishap'

Kings of Leon have announced the cancellation of their upcoming UK and European tour due to an injury sustained by frontman Caleb Followill. The rock band was set to perform across various countries this summer, including shows in Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Croatia, Belgium, Portugal, and more. However, following a freak accident where Caleb broke his foot while playing with his children, the singer was left requiring emergency surgery, forcing the band to cancel all of their planned performances in June and July.

In a video posted on the band's Instagram account, Caleb, 43, addressed fans, expressing his apologies and regret. He shared that his injury, which left him unable to travel or perform due to a lengthy recovery period, was a significant blow to the band. The band had planned extensively for this tour, with recordings of new studio material included in their setlist.

Festival organizers for Lytham Festival in Lancashire, where Kings of Leon were set to headline alongside Justin Timberlake and Alanis Morissette, have confirmed that the festival will be reduced to four days due to the cancellation. The band's future performances, such as sets at the Ohana and Pilgrimage festivals, are also impacted by this pause in live activities[1][4].

Caleb underwent emergency surgery in Nashville and has been told he must stay off his feet for approximately two months. Despite the setback, the singer remains optimistic about the future, hinting at exciting new music to come[2]. His bandmates also released a separate statement, echoing Caleb's recovery timeline and expressing their regret for the cancellations[2].

Last year, Kings of Leon announced they were set to release new music after signing a deal with Capitol Records. The band, formed in 1999, consists of brothers Caleb, Nathan, and Jared Followill and their cousin Matthew Followill. To prepare for the upcoming album, the foursome released a new single titled Mustang[4]. Kings of Leon's entire discography, including eight studio albums, one live album, two compilation albums, and numerous music videos, was previously released on RCA Records[3]. Their most recent release with RCA was the 2021 album When You See Yourself.

  1. Despite the unfortunate cancelation of their UK and European tour due to Caleb Followill's broken foot, Kings of Leon continue to hint at exciting new music to come, as indicated in a video posted on their Instagram account.
  2. The cancellation of Kings of Leon's performances at various festivals, including Lytham Festival in Lancashire, has led to a reduction of those events to four days, impacting the band's future live activities such as sets at the Ohana and Pilgrimage festivals.
