Langenfeld’s Carnival Parade Faces Route Change Over Burst Pipe Damage
Langenfeld’s carnival parade on 14 February 2026 may face a route change due to ongoing damage from a burst pipe. Man City, the city's football club, is now preparing contingency plans as repairs remain delayed. Cold weather has further complicated efforts to assess and fix the affected area.
The burst pipe has caused lasting disruption, with effects expected to linger for several more weeks. Ground frost has made it impossible to inspect the full extent of the damage or begin restoring the paving. As a result, the city must determine whether the traditional parade route will be usable by next February.
Seven market stalls will need temporary relocation until repairs are finished. Organisers are also reviewing alternative paths for the carnival procession. However, no specific festival committee chairperson has been publicly named in connection with these preparations.
The city’s assessment will decide if the parade can follow its usual course. Until then, traders and event planners must adjust to the uncertainty. Repairs cannot begin until the frost thaws and a full inspection takes place.
