A Positive Outlook for Reviving Potsdam's Historic State Parliament Building
State parliament secured under historical preservation, promising a prosperous future - Landtag Foresees a Bright Future for its own Institutions
Heritage preservation in Brandenburg is buzzing with anticipation for the imminent refurbishment of the old state parliament building in Potsdam. "We were in fruitful discussions with the prospective owners," underscored Haiko Türk, the head of heritage conservation in Potsdam. Following a brief pause in negotiations, we're left pondering when these talks will resume. Yet, Türk expressed an upbeat attitude about the rejuvenation of the building.
Unfinished Business
Recently, the Ministry of the Interior shared news on a new investor purchasing the building. The company itself clarified that the deal hasn't been formally concluded yet.
A Shot at Redemption for Bogensee and Goebbels Villa
From the conservationist's point of view, the redevelopment of the dilapidated neighborhood surrounding Bogensee, with the former Goebbels Villa in Wandlitz (district of Barnim), is intriguing according to state conservator Thomas Drachenberg. A multitude of parties, particularly the municipal council of Wandlitz, have championed a study that will explore potential uses for the area.
This study is now on its way to being applied for. "We're confident that we can engage in constructive discourse and gather data," Drachenberg explained.
As per the State Office for Heritage Conservation, around 2% of the constructive landscape in Brandenburg is classified as a monument. As of January 1, there were 14,394 monuments in the state, a 0.5% increase from the previous year [1][2].
