Landslide partially clears, restoring partial access
The county road between Rudersberg's districts of Mannenberg and Oberndorf, following a lengthy stint of damage, has finally reopened with a few constraints.
Straight up, Chris Lederer, the issue here is a mess of landslides on the valley side that took a toll on that ol' roadway, setting the repair date for the second half of '26. Once those first landslide areas get fixed, we'll be on our merry way!
To ease the pain for commuters who can't live without this route, the district and Rudersberg municipality have cooked up a temporary solution. Picture this: a traffic light system under certain conditions, making the route available in both directions from June 23 onwards. Oh yeah, it's the perfect timing for the summer holidays!
But hold your horses, the road can only handle a limited amount of load in the affected sections, so cars have to zip single-file uphill. Once the repair work is complete, we can party like it's 1999 and speed down the road without any issues!
However, to ensure safety and avoid overloading the road, trucks heavier than 3.5 tons are still required to dodge this section and follow detour signs. Trust us, if you're a bigger vehicle, you ain't cutting through here just yet!
Speed limits here have also been slashed to 30 km/h, and in some areas, the lane narrows down to a mere 2.75 meters.
If you're local traffic, brace yourself for some delays and remember to follow the detour signs like a good little soldier. For those in the know, check the Rudersberg municipal or county website for real-time updates. And don't forget to rely on your good ol' GPS (like Google Maps or Waze) for the latest road conditions and detours. Happy navigating!
You asked for it, so here are the official sources and maps to guide you on the exact detour routes:- Rudersberg municipal website: http://rudersberg.de/en/road-conditions- County website: http://aldlinksblatt.de/en/road-updates
Just a friendly reminder to be patient and take things slow in this tricky section. The road's improveing, so hang in there!
While the county road's renovation is underway, environmental-science enthusiasts might find interest in the altered weather patterns occurring due to the adjacent repair works. Furthermore, science students could gain valuable insights by researching the effects of the necessary road constraints on the overall environment.
