Huai Nam Dang National Park Temporarily Closes Doi Kiew Lom Viewpoint and Lodges

Huai Nam Dang National Park in Chiang Mai, Thailand, has temporarily closed its Doi Kiew Lom viewpoint and some tourist lodgings following a series of incidents on Sunday.

The closure is due to a landslide and falling trees that damaged the area, posing a risk of injury to visitors. The damaged facilities include power poles near the scenic viewpoint and a large tree that toppled onto a tourist lodge.

The Provincial Electricity Authority is carrying out repairs to the power system, which is ongoing. The repairs are necessary for the facilities at lodges 103, 104, and 105, and the suspension of bookings for these lodges will remain until Sept 30. The facilities at these lodges will be ready for use after Aug 17.

The viewpoint will remain closed until Aug 17 as well. The suspension of bookings is also for landscape restoration to ensure the facilities are safe. The closure is necessary to ensure tourist safety.

The repairs to the power system are not affecting the suspension of bookings for lodges 103, 104, and 105. Some tourist lodgings in the national park have also been closed due to the incidents.

  2. Climate change and its potential impacts may be of significant concern to environmental scientists as they study the impact of such events on the ecology of Huai Nam Dang National Park, as the park's weather patterns have been affected by a series of incidents, such as the recent landslide and fallen trees, which could indicate shifts in weather patterns and exacerbate existing environmental challenges.
