In the Village of DeForest, Wisconsin, a significant change has taken place in the local government. Alicia Williams, a write-in candidate, has emerged victorious in the Village Board Trustee election, defeating incumbent William Landgraf.

The primary election results, announced last Tuesday evening, showed that Williams received 1,884 votes, while Landgraf managed 260. However, it's important to note that the primary election does not necessarily indicate the final result, as write-in candidates can gain momentum in subsequent rounds.

Williams decided to run as a write-in candidate due to discussions surrounding fluoride in the village's water. Interestingly, in July, the Village Board made a decision to remove fluoride from the village's water supply, a move that has sparked debate within the community. The vote on this matter was 4-3.

Meanwhile, a recall petition against Landgraf was started by Marc Storch, citing issues related to professionalism, ethics, and community expectations. The petition collected over 1,500 signatures and was submitted in July. However, no further information about the outcome of the recall petition was provided.

Landgraf's loss in the primary election marks the end of his tenure as a Village Board Trustee. The new Trustee, Ginny O’Neal, will join the board following the official election results.

It's a new chapter for the Village of DeForest, with fresh faces and renewed discussions on key issues such as water quality and governance. The community eagerly awaits the outcome of the final election results and the impact of these changes on their local government.
