Vuelta a Burgos 2025: Young Talent Bisiaux Takes Early Lead as Bernal and Landa Prepare for Grand Tours

The Vuelta a Burgos 2025, a five-stage race held annually since 1981, kicked off on Olmillos de Sasamón with a 205 km stage featuring the first category climb of La Mazorra. The race, which can be followed live from August 5 to 9 on Teledeporte and Play, has attracted some of the biggest names in cycling.

One of the top contenders is Egan Bernal, who is aiming to use this race as preparation for his other season goals like winning the Vuelta a España. Bernal, who faces the end of the season with the goal of recovering the good feelings with which he started it, after not winning in Europe since his serious accident in 2022, is currently positioned as a serious contender, sitting ninth in the general classification.

Mikel Landa, another top contender, is showing signs of recovery and form rebuilding but has yet to challenge seriously for the overall lead this edition. Landa, who achieved his first professional victory 14 years ago in the Lagunas de Neila and has accumulated the most wins in the Vuelta a Burgos, will have the opportunity to shine in the race as it passes through his province, Álava, to tackle a climb that he knows perfectly, Orduna.

Leo Bisiaux, a 19-year-old sensation, currently leads the race with a notable advantage and has already achieved his first professional win in this event. Bisiaux's impressive performance has caught the attention of many, including Bernal and Landa, who trail the young rider in the standings.

Isaac del Toro and Giulio Ciccone are also in the mix, considered strong rivals likely to contend for top spots. Del Toro, the revelation of the season, has shown an impressive level in the races he has competed in since his month of rest, with an exhibition in the Tour de Austria and two wins in Spain. Ciccone, on the other hand, has been a consistent performer and will be looking to add the Vuelta a Burgos to his list of victories.

The Red Bull team, which has Roger Adrià, Giulio Pellizzari, and Jai Hindley as potential leaders, and the Lidl team, which also presents two other Spanish climbers, Juanpe López and Carlos Verona, are among the big favorites in the Vuelta a Burgos 2025.

The final stage of the Vuelta a Burgos will take place in the Lagunas de Neila, where climbers will have their big opportunity on Saturday. The final stage will feature two third category climbs and a final circuit with a 6.5 km climb at a 9.2% gradient.

The Q36.5 team, a Pro Tour team, will participate in the Vuelta a Burgos 2025 and has Xabier Mikel Azparren, who has already shone in the Vuelta a Burgos. El Kern, a second-level team, has not received an invitation for the Vuelta 2025 and will attend with Urko Berrade as their strong man.

As the race progresses, it is expected that Landa and Bernal will be aggressive and competitive, though the young Bisiaux is outperforming expectations. The final performance outcomes remain open, but one thing is for sure: the Vuelta a Burgos 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting race.

Average grades of the climbs in the Vuelta a Burgos 2025 will undoubtedly challenge the endurance of the top sports competitors. Despite Egan Bernal and Mikel Landa's focus on preparing for Grand Tours, they cannot underestimate the young talent, Bisiaux's, impressive sports performance.
