Lancaster County braces for heavy snow as winter storm warning takes effect
A winter storm warning and cold weather advisory are now in place for Lancaster County. Forecasters predict several inches of snow will hit the area this weekend. Residents are being urged to prepare for hazardous conditions and stay informed through official updates.
The National Weather Service, PennDOT, and Lancaster County Emergency Management Agency are closely tracking the storm. They will provide real-time road condition reports, snow emergency declarations, and public safety advisories. Updates can also be found on the local Facebook page and Millersville University’s Weather Information Center.
Traffic cameras across the county are available for viewing on Lancaster County’s Facebook page. The Red Rose Transit Authority’s Busfinder service lets passengers track bus locations in real time. For non-emergency needs, residents should call 211 instead of 911 to keep emergency lines clear.
Power outages can be reported to PPL by calling 800-342-5775 or texting 'outage' to TXTPPL. A live outage map is also available online. Gas outages should be reported to UGI at 800-276-2722. Meanwhile, the county’s 911 incident lists remain accessible online for public reference.
With heavy snow expected, authorities are advising residents to check road conditions before travelling. Official updates will continue through weather services, PennDOT, and local emergency agencies. Reports of outages and hazards should be directed to the appropriate utility providers.
