Lamar Jackson of the Ravens intends to maintain his Monday success against the Lions in their next encounter.
Ravens Ready to Face Lions in Week 3
The Baltimore Ravens are set to host the Detroit Lions in Week 3, as both teams look to build on their impressive starts to the season.
Lamar Jackson, the Ravens' star quarterback, has been in fine form so far, with six passing touchdowns and one rushing score through two games without being intercepted. Jackson has also dazzled on Monday nights, with 22 passing touchdowns without being intercepted in nine appearances. In addition, he has twice thrown five touchdown passes and has set the franchise record of 442 passing yards against the Indianapolis Colts in 2021.
The Ravens' offense has been firing on all cylinders, with Baltimore scoring 40 points in their season-opening loss to Buffalo and 41 points in their Week 2 game against the Cleveland Browns. However, they struggled in the rushing department against the Browns, managing only 45 yards, with Derrick Henry having 23 yards on 11 carries.
Detroit wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown has been a standout performer for the Lions, catching 13 passes for 160 yards and tying for the NFL lead with three touchdown receptions. Quarterback Jared Goff also had a strong performance in Week 2, matching his career best of five passing touchdowns in the game against the Chicago Bears.
However, the Lions have been hit by a series of injuries, with standout outside linebacker Kyle Van Noy (hamstring) expected to miss multiple games after being injured against the Browns. Detroit tackle Taylor Decker (shoulder), linebacker Jack Campbell (ankle), edge rusher Marcus Davenport (chest), corner D.J. Reed (knee), and safety Kerby Joseph (knee) missed or were limited in practice for the Lions.
On the other hand, Baltimore could have tight end Isaiah Likely (foot) for the first time this season, as he was a limited practice participant on Thursday. Star cornerback Marlon Humphrey (groin) was a full practice participant despite being injured against Cleveland.
The Lions have had a mixed start to the season, losing to the Green Bay Packers 27-13 in Week 1 but bouncing back with a strong performance against the Bears. Detroit ranks third in scoring (32.5) and is coming off a 52-21 win against the Bears.
Baltimore has a dominant record against the Lions, having beaten them five straight times and six of seven overall. The Ravens lead the NFL in scoring average (40.5) and have reached the 40-point mark in both of their games.
With both teams in good form and looking to continue their impressive starts to the season, the Week 3 matchup between the Ravens and Lions promises to be an exciting one.
