Laimer and Zadrazil Austria's Footballers of the Year - Laimer and Zadrazil Austria's Footballers of the Year
FC Bayern Munich’s Konrad Laimer and Sarah Zadrazil have been named Austria’s Footballer and Women’s Footballer of the Year for 2025. The awards, voted for by the twelve coaches of the Austrian Bundesliga and organised by the Austria Press Agency (APA), recognise their standout performances over the past season.
Konrad Laimer, 28, claimed the men’s award for the first time, taking over from last year’s winner, Christoph Baumgartner of RB Leipzig. Known as the 'Alpine Zidane' and 'Mr. Reliable,' he has earned a reputation for his consistency, passion, and leadership on the pitch. After joining Bayern Munich from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023, he quickly became a key player for the German champions. Bayern’s sporting director, Christoph Freund, highlighted Laimer’s influence, calling him a long-standing role model for both club and country.
Sarah Zadrazil, 32, secured the women’s award for the second time, having previously won in 2018. She follows in the footsteps of Barbara Dunst, who won the accolade while playing for Eintracht Frankfurt. Like Laimer, Zadrazil plays for FC Bayern Munich, where her performances have continued to set her apart in Austrian football.
The awards mark a double success for Bayern Munich, with both players now officially recognised as Austria’s best for 2025. Laimer’s first win and Zadrazil’s second title reflect their ongoing contributions to both club and national teams.
