Lagos Governor Sanwo-Olu Tackles Judicial Woes: Delivering Housing, Infrastructure, and Empowerment
Lagos: New Infrastructures Inaugurated by Sanwo-Olu, Images Included
The swaggering Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on a stormy Friday, May 2, honchoed two monumental judicial infrastructure projects. These game-changers encompass the Deputy Sheriff Warehouse based in Majidun, Ikorodu, and a 34-unit residential complex brimming with three-bedroom apartments for magistrates and legal whizzes nestled in Ketu.
This top-notch housing facility—an unprecedented first in Nigeria—forms part of Sanwo-Olu's comprehensive war plan aimed at amplifying judicial honchos' working and living conditions.
During the inaugurating powwow, Sanwo-Olu restated his administration's commitment to elevating the lifestyle of judiciary staff while bolstering the state's strict rule of law. He hailed these endeavors as a testament to his administration's dedication to judicial reform and infrastructure advancement.
"Just a smidgen more than a basketball week ago, we unveiled new commercial courtrooms at Tapa on Lagos Island. Today's unveiling is a continuation of our vow to provide users with more judicial infrastructure," he articulated.
The Ketu housing project sports 34 apartments. Twenty-four units will dwell with magistrates while ten are reserved for legal minds from the Ministry of Justice. Sanwo-Olu underlined the pivotal role of offering decent digs to judicial honchos to ensure an unbiased and proficient delivery of justice.
"Lagos State houses the greatest pile of judges and magistrates outside the federal judiciary. The least we can do is make their tasks less burdensome and their lives more dignified," he declared.
"Only when our officers are well accommodated can they discharge justice fearlessly and with confidence," he added.
Sanwo-Olu highlighted that certain issues, particularly those related to welfare, necessitate unified action. "No branch of the government should be overlooked when it comes to the tools and support required to function independently," he asserted.
He lavished praise on the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, the Ministry of Justice, contractors, and supervising agencies for delivering the projects efficiently and with polish.
"This is how Lagos should run; each arm of the government functioning autonomously yet cooperatively, all for the good of our people," he said during the Majidun commissioning of the Deputy Sheriff Warehouse.
Sanwo-Olu claimed the facility would help safeguard assets tied to court judgments and support transparent judicial processes.
The Governor remarked, "When you commission a building, and it's pouring cats and dogs yet not a single drop seeps through the roof, you're witnessing quality assurance."
"We're not merely building structures; we're crafting the foundation for a stronger and more accessible justice system," he continued.
