Ladd McConkey, wide receiver for the Chargers, resumes team practice following an unspecified absence
After missing the last two weeks of practice due to an undisclosed injury, Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Ladd McConkey returned to the field on Tuesday. Throughout his recovery, both McConkey and Chargers officials have referred to the injury as a “minor” and “undisclosed” injury without specifying the affected body part[1][2][3].
McConkey's return to practice comes after a breakout rookie season in 2024, where he led the team in receptions (82) and receiving yards (1,149), breaking the previous records set by Keenan Allen in 2013[4]. During the playoff game against Houston, McConkey scored the only touchdown for the Chargers with an 86-yard catch-and-run, setting an NFL rookie postseason record for receiving yards with 197[5]. However, the Chargers ultimately lost the game 32-12[6].
Despite the loss, McConkey expressed feeling "really good" and "great" about being back at practice[7]. He also mentioned the need to build everything back up and get his conditioning back to where it needs to be[8]. McConkey's seven touchdown catches during the regular season were also a part of his impressive rookie season[9].
The specific injury that McConkey suffered in 2024 has not been publicly disclosed. McConkey himself declined to reveal details, stating simply, “I’m good,” and describing the injury recovery as building back conditioning and getting back into the swing of things[1][3].
