L.A.'s site proclaims the upcoming "JAPAN CUTS HOLLYWOOD" Film Festival, set to unfold in November.

The city of Los Angeles will play host to the three-day festival, Japan Cuts Hollywood, from November 1-3, 2019. This event, held at the TCL Chinese 6 Theatres and the Los Angeles hub of the website, is a celebration of new Japanese cinema.

The festival will feature several U.S. premieres, including "Brave Father Online," Osamu Dazai's "No Longer Human," family crime drama "His Bad Blood," and a love letter to the early days of Japanese cinema, "Talking the Pictures." The opening night on November 1 will see a red-carpet event and the West Coast premiere of the comedy hit "Bento Harassment." The festival will also host the international premiere of "The Bucket List," a remake of the heartwarming adventure from Rob Reiner, featuring Academy Award winners Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman.

The thrillers "It Comes" and "melancholic" will make their West Coast premieres as well. One of the highlights of the festival will be the screening of "37 Seconds," by award-winning writer, producer, and director HIKARI, on Saturday.

The festival will also offer special guest events, such as a high-profile anthology film "Ten Years Japan," featuring a panel discussion with three of its acclaimed female directors, Megumi Tsuno, Akiyo Fujimura, and Chie Hayakawa. The opening night will include a Q&A with director Renpei Tsukamoto and star Ryoko Shinohara.

The Los Angeles hub of the website, located at Hollywood & Highland, offers experiences that reflect the best of Japan through its spaces and diverse programs. The 2nd floor of the hub features a gallery space, while the 5th floor hosts a Japanese restaurant, a relaxing library, an event venue, and offers views of Hollywood and Downtown Los Angeles.

The Japan Cuts festival is a project by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and has three hubs in London, Los Angeles, and São Paulo. The JASSC, the West Coast's premier educational and public affairs forum dedicated to the U.S.-Japan relationship, is a qualified 501(c)(3) nonprofit, charitable and educational organization, supported by 130 Japanese and American corporate members and more than 2,000 individual members.
