L.A. Lakers update: LeBron James offers words to Anthony Edwards following playoff termination

In the aftermath of a 103-96 Game 5 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers All-Star LeBron James offered some guidance to Timberwolves All-Star Anthony Edwards. This marked the first time in franchise history that a three seed Lakers team failed to advance to the Western Conference semifinals.

James and Edwards shared a friendly handshake after the final buzzer, with James encouraging Edwards to elevate his game. "Take it to another level," James said. "Make that next step now."

Anthony Edwards put up 15 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, and three blocks in the series finale. However, it was Rudy Gobert who shone brightest, leading the Timberwolves with 27 points, 24 rebounds, and two blocks. The Lakers trailed throughout most of the game.

Luka Doncic hit a snag due to a back injury but returned to the game in the second half. He finished with 28 points on 7-of-18 attempts, nine assists, seven rebounds, and one steal. Rui Hachimura chimed in with 23 points, four rebounds, and one block. LeBron James contributed 22 points on 9-of-21 shooting, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals.

The Timberwolves are now set to take on the winner of the Houston Rockets-Golden State Warriors series, with the Warriors holding a 3-2 lead.

When asked about acquiring a center to counter their size, James remained tight-lipped, hinting at the consequences of such discussions after AD's departure from the team.

After averaging 24.4 points, 8.2 assists, and 7.8 rebounds in the regular season, James upped his game in the postseason, posting 25.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.0 steals, and 1.8 blocks against the Timberwolves.
