Kwasi Sibo earns Ghana call-up ahead of World Cup warm-up clashes

Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo has been included in Otto Addo's 26-man squad for two high-profile friendlies. The matches against Austria and Germany will help prepare the Black Stars for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Sibo, who plays for Real Oviedo, is pushing for a place in Ghana's final tournament squad.

Sibo featured for Real Oviedo in their 4-2 loss to Levante on Saturday. He played 70 minutes before being substituted, continuing his run of 25 appearances this season. The club currently sits 14th in Spain's second division.

Ghana will face Austria in Vienna on March 27 and Germany in Stuttgart three days later. These games serve as key warm-ups before the World Cup, where Ghana has been drawn in Group L with England, Croatia, and Panama. Their opening match is against Panama on June 17 in Toronto. The 23-year-old, who can operate in midfield or defence, has earned three caps for Ghana so far. His versatility and recent club form could strengthen his chances of making the final squad.

Sibo's inclusion in the squad offers him another opportunity to impress ahead of the World Cup. Ghana's friendlies against Austria and Germany will test the team's readiness before their tournament opener in June. The matches also provide a platform for fringe players to stake their claim.
