"Kwankwaso Holds Back on Revealing Political Allegiance for 2027"
Rabiu Kwankwaso, a prominent politician and former governor of Kano State, has hinted at a potential alliance with the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 elections. In an interaction with his supporters on Thursday, Kwankwaso, who is currently a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), expressed his discontent with the neglect he experienced in both the PDP and NNPP, and suggested that promises should be made transparently in any potential alliance.
Kwankwaso played a significant role in taking the APC to power, but he left the party during Muhammadu Buhari's tenure due to a lack of recognition. He reiterated that he and his supporters would consider joining the APC, but only if they are assured of value and not neglected as in the past.
The former NNPP presidential candidate emphasized that he was a significant leader in the establishment of the APC, yet he was not even thanked for his contributions to the party when his faction of the PDP was not part of their initial formation. He also mentioned that he was not given a Zonal Chairman position in the PDP after he left the APC.
Kwankwaso stated that he was working for irresponsible people in the APC and PDP, and was not valued by them when they won elections. However, he clarified that he is not in a hurry to leave the NNPP and is open to working with any party truthfully, including the PDP and APC, provided there is assurance of truthful dealings.
Since leaving the PDP and NNPP, Kwankwaso has gained potential, he asserted, without specifying the nature of this potential. He has not yet announced which party he plans to join for the 2027 elections.
In the past, Kwankwaso left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to neglect, and in 2020, he left the NNPP due to disagreements over party leadership and strategic direction, leading him to negotiate cooperation with the APC. Kwankwaso suggested that promises should be made where everyone can see them, implying a desire for transparency in any potential alliance.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, Rabiu Kwankwaso's potential alliance with the APC remains a topic of interest and speculation among political observers and supporters alike.
