Kuwaiti Heroes Commemorated in Mew Exhibition, Upholding Legacy of 1990 Invasion

Yesterday, under the patronage of Minister Dr. Subaih Al-Mukhaizeem, the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy organised the fifth annual exhibition, "We Will Not Forget the Brutal Invasion and Our Righteous Martyrs." The event, marking the 35th anniversary of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait, serves as a poignant reminder of the atrocities, crimes, and destruction inflicted during the Iraqi occupation.

Researcher Mohammed Kamal, founder of Expo 965, is the brainchild behind this exhibition. Kamal emphasised that the display showcases the brutalities committed against the Kuwaiti people, including images of burning oil wells, resistance pamphlets, and documents revealing the occupiers' attempts to erase the national identity. Among the rare artifacts on display are photographs of tortured prisoners and martyrs.

The exhibition aims to educate younger generations who did not experience the invasion. It features items such as original license plates from the occupation era, maps illustrating changes made to Kuwaiti area names during the invasion, and paintings of cars. Resistance pamphlets and historically authentic documents are also on display.

Eng. Fatima Hayat, the ministry's official spokesperson, stated that the exhibition stands in loyalty to the righteous martyrs who gave their lives for Kuwait's liberation. On this solemn occasion, she emphasised the true value of safety and security.

The reports about the exhibition were published by Al-Jarida daily. The exhibition's focus is to underscore Kuwait’s determination to reclaim its land and sovereignty, preserving the painful memory and paying tribute to the resilience of the Kuwaiti people. Kamal underscored the commitment to preserving the nation's collective memory, emphasising that all items on display are historically authentic.

This year's exhibition, like previous ones, is a testament to Kuwait's unwavering spirit and resilience. It serves as a reminder of the past, a lesson for the present, and a beacon for the future.

War-and-conflicts were at the center of discussions during the fifth annual exhibition, with a specific focus on the 1990 Iraqi invasion of Kuwait. The display, organized by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, highlighted the political ramifications of the war through exhibits of resistance pamphlets and historically authentic documents. General-news outlets like Al-Jarida daily covered the event, underscoring the country's commitment to preserving the memory of the invasion and honoring the resilience of its people.
