The Malaysian government has announced the 'Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism 2026,' aiming to attract international patients and showcase its healthcare facilities. This initiative is part of a broader collaboration between the two nations, which extends into economic relations, defense, security, energy, finance, food security, tourism, culture, healthcare, education, and person-to-person exchanges.

In a significant development, the Embassy of Malaysia in Kuwait hosted a celebration marking the 68th National Day, the 62nd Malaysia Day, and the 60th year of strong bilateral relations between Malaysia and Kuwait. The event was attended by His Excellency Dr. Nader Abdullah Mohammad Al-Jallal, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the State of Kuwait.

The celebration honoured past achievements and inspired a collective vision for growth and collaboration in the years ahead. It also reinforced regional stability and security. Malaysian Ambassador His Excellency Alauddin Mohammad Nor emphasized the longstanding collaboration between the two nations.

The trend of increased tourist arrivals from Kuwait is expected to continue, with 2024 data showing a 35.77 percent rise in tourist arrivals from Kuwait, reflecting 11,289 tourists compared to pre-pandemic figures in 2019. This growth in tourism is a testament to the strong ties between the two countries.

In terms of trade, Malaysia was Kuwait's 44th largest trading partner in 2024, with total bilateral trade exceeding USD 622 million. Malaysian exports to Kuwait amounted to USD 168.9 million, while imports from Kuwait amounted to USD 453.1 million.

Organisations such as TNB REMACO, Alypz, and the Malaysian Tourism Promotion Board have played pivotal roles in enhancing the diplomatic and economic landscape between Malaysia and Kuwait. Notably, an education exhibition, 'The Big 10 Most Popular Malaysian Universities,' is scheduled for 19 September 2025 at the embassy to explore educational opportunities for Kuwaiti students and strengthen academic ties. Malaysia aims to increase the number of international students studying in the country to 250,000 by the end of the year.

The unwavering commitment to cooperation between Malaysia and Kuwait continues to pave the way for a prosperous partnership. This partnership will be further cemented when Malaysia hosts the 47th ASEAN Summit in Kuala Lumpur in October 2025. While the exact Malaysian representative for the National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations in Kuwait in October 2025 is not specified, the event is expected to be a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between the two nations.
