Kunal Patni Achieving Remarkable Success at APT Phu Quoc 2024 Tournament
In the bustling Corona Resort & Casino, located in the Corona Theater in Phu Quoc, Vietnam, the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Phu Quoc 2024 series is underway. One of the standout players in this year's event is Indian poker pro, Kunal Patni.
Patni, who made his first cash in 2014 at the Asia Pacific Poker Tour - APPT Asia Championship of Poker, Macau, has had a successful 2024. He recently captained the winning team at the Poker Sports League (PSL 6), and his performance at the APT Phu Quoc 2024 series is no exception.
The series kicked off with Event #1, the Vietnam National Cup, which had 579 entries. Patni registered for the event for VND 5 Billion GTD and reached the final table, ending in 9th place and winning VND 82.27 Million (~₹2.74 Lakh).
However, it was Event #19: VND 4 Million Tick Tock BOOM! Super Hold'em that truly showcased Patni's skills. With 49 entries, the event saw Sam Nigel Insole take the cup, winning VND 51 Million. But it was Patni who made headlines, reaching the heads-up play and ultimately finishing as the runner-up. His victory earned him VND 35.70 Million (~₹1.19 Lakh).
This win is not Patni's largest to date. His best live cash remains the $115,819 he earned in 2018 at the World Poker Tour-WPT European Championship, Berlin. Nevertheless, his performance at the APT Phu Quoc 2024 series is a testament to his growing prowess in the poker world.
Looking ahead, the Asian Poker Tour has announced its upcoming events for 2025. The APT Incheon 2025 in Seoul, South Korea, is scheduled from August 1 to August 10, 2025, featuring 96 tournaments. The APT Championship 2025 in Taipei, Taiwan, is set for November 14 to November 30, 2025, held at Red Point Business Center in partnership with CTP Club. These are the confirmed major APT events for 2025 based on current schedules.
