Kuban's farmers unite to drive agricultural growth with state support and AI innovation
The first open congress of the People's Farmer of Kuban Association took place in Plastunovskaya Cossack village. The event formed part of the Vegetable Growers of Russia agribusiness forum, drawing attention to the region's agriculture sector. Deputy Governor Andrei Korobka addressed farmers, stressing their vital role in Krasnodar Krai's economy.
Korobka described local farmers as a 'vast army' whose success secures stability across the region. He highlighted their growing contributions, from canned meats and dairy to vegetables and wine—products now regularly showcased at Kuban's trade fairs. The vice-governor also pointed to digital advancements, noting how artificial intelligence is being adopted to modernise farming practices.
The state has increased its support for agricultural producers, offering funding in return for high-quality output and tax revenues. Additional measures were introduced by the governor to assist areas hit by extreme weather in 2025. Korobka urged farmers to engage more actively with authorities, ensuring their needs are met.
New programmes are currently in development to improve farm profitability. However, no official figures exist on the number of small farms registered in Krasnodar Krai in 2025 or their market share compared to larger agribusinesses.
The congress underscored the region's commitment to small-scale farming and technological progress. With state backing and new initiatives underway, authorities aim to strengthen the sector's efficiency and resilience. The focus remains on boosting productivity while adapting to challenges like climate change.
