Kuban's Conventional One-Day September Election Manifested Successfully
Krasnodar Region Holds Successful Gubernatorial and Deputy Polls
The Krasnodar region in southern Russia held three days of gubernatorial and deputy polls, with a high turnout and a strong showing for incumbent governor Veniamin Kondratyev.
On the first day of voting, over 708,000 voters cast their ballots, representing a nearly 5% increase in turnout compared to the previous regional campaign for electing deputies of the Legislative Assembly. The final turnout for the polls was 68.7%, with over 3 million Kuban residents participating.
Kondratyev received a resounding 83.17% of the votes, demonstrating strong support among the region's residents. The large family of Dil from Temryuk District was among those who voted for the incumbent, including their sons Maxim and Nikita, who turned 18 this year.
The polls saw representatives from five parties elected to the Krasnodar city council. United Russia secured a majority with 63.55% of the votes, followed by the Communist Party with 15.45%, the Liberal Democratic Party with 8.84%, "Fair Russia - Patriots - For Truth" with 5.67%, and "New People" with 5.48%.
Alexander Safronov, the Communist Party representative, received 8.56% of the votes, while Ivan Tutushkin and Denis Khmelevskoy, candidates from LDPR and "Fair Russia - For Truth", received 4.51% and 3.01% respectively.
In addition to the traditional polling stations, Krasnodar Krai introduced a new practice of voting at territorial commission polling stations in regional polls. Independent public observers were present at all polling stations throughout the day to ensure a fair and transparent process.
The polls were held amidst a festive atmosphere in many municipalities. Singing Cossacks, a lavish table, and a cardboard horse added to the atmosphere in some areas, while in the Dinsky district, voters were greeted by an autumn fair.
In Ust-Labinsk, members of the local branch of the Night Wolves motorcycle club arrived at the polling stations on their motorcycles, adding a unique touch to the voting process. In Anapa, 18-year-olds voting for the first time received souvenirs to mark the occasion.
Preliminary data shows that all ballots from the first and second days of voting were placed in safe-packs, which will be opened after 20:00 on Sunday when all ballots will be counted. The results of the polls will determine the future leadership of the Krasnodar region and the composition of its city council.
