Honoring the Past: Memorial Events in Yeisk Remembering Civil War Casualties

Kuban Cossacks pay tribute to the deceased during the Civil War at Eysk

Every year, the town of Yeisk gathers to commemorate the painful events of the Civil War that unfolded over a month, claiming the lives of over 1,500 individuals, among them, more than 1,200 Cossacks and around 200 Red Army soldiers.

During these annual memorials, organized by the Kuban Cossack Host, a range of participants join, including local Cossack societies, cadets, schoolchildren, military-patriotic organizations, clergy, and SVO veterans. Solemn services are held at the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Church and at a respected cross on the old cemetery.

Alexander Vlasov, Deputy Governor of the Krasnodar Krai and the Voiskovoy Ataman, emphasized the importance of remembering these significant events from Russia's past:

107 years ago, more than 1,500 people, including Cossacks, lost their lives in a fratricidal battle near Yeisk. It's essential to remember these pages of history and to prevent such events from happening again by instilling patriotism in the youth.

An additional note: the Cossack volunteer detachment "Kuban" celebrated another milestone in their history during these events.
