KSC's Decision to Bench Bosnian Footballer Dzenis Burnic: Examining Dzenis Burnic's Demotion from Regular Player at KSC

Karlsruher SC's Dzenis Burnic Aims to Regain Playing Time

Dzenis Burnic, the Bosnian international left-back, is determined to "fight his way back" to regular playing time at Karlsruher SC (KSC), following a challenging start to the new season.

Last season, Burnic was a regular starter for KSC, appearing in 31 games, 30 of them from the beginning. However, this season, he has found himself on the bench more often, with only four substitute appearances to his name.

Burnic's last outing for KSC was against 1. FC Nürnberg, where he played a significant role in Marvin Wanitzek's winning goal. He brought mentality and was involved in the second goal in the game, showcasing his running, tackling strength, and involvement in goals despite not setting many highlights.

Coach Christian Eichner expects substitutes like Burnic to recommend themselves for more playing time with "good substitutions." However, Burnic's chances of starting in the upcoming game against Holstein Kiel may be affected by Nicolai Rapp's potential adductor problems. Rapp, who has been a mainstay in central defense for KSC, could miss the game due to these issues.

Rapp, a German defensive midfielder born in Heidelberg on December 13, 1996, is likely to be deployed against Holstein Kiel, indicating his established role in their central defense line.

Burnic's absence at the start of the season was due to illness. Since then, Lilian Egloff has stepped up and performed well in games following Burnic's absence. Egloff even scored decisively against Münster, further complicating Burnic's quest for a starting spot.

Despite the challenges, Burnic has earned a regular spot in the Bosnian national team as a left-back in a back five. He has also contributed to the team with two goals and four assists.

As the season progresses, Burnic will undoubtedly strive to regain his starting position at KSC and continue his contribution to both the club and the national team.
