Christian Eichner Aimin' High with Karlsruher SC
- KSC coach Eichner maintains objective of achieving top league status
Football coach Christian Eichner's sights remain set on the Bundesliga, even as he leads Karlsruher SC. In an interview with the German Press Agency, he expressed his desire for a promotion, stating, "I bet every coach is thinking the same. But ideally, I'd do it with my own club."
While his contract with KSC extends until 2027, Eichner remains adaptable about his future. He shared, "I'm not closing any doors or making promises. There's a good, honest rapport between us. If an offer catches my attention from the get-go, and KSC exercises their veto, I'd be more than happy to stay here."
A move abroad could be on the horizon
Eichner has been at the helm of Karlsruher since 2020, guiding them to finish in the upper third of the table for the past two seasons. This season, they're currently in 10th place after a strong showing in the first half.
The coach admitted he has become more open to the idea of an international move. "I've learned to ignore my fears from my playing days in Cologne," Eichner explained. "But family always comes first. Everything needs to add up."
Eichner's knack for nurturing young talent, with players like Max Weiß and Louey Ben Farhat, has certainly caught the eye. It wouldn't be surprising if he caught the attention of larger clubs in the future.
Karlsruher SC is where his focus lies
Currently, there's no concrete evidence that Eichner has received an offer from a Bundesliga or international club. His immediate focus is maintaining KSC's spot in the top league and continuing to develop his team's potential. With their recent friendly win against SC Freiburg, it seems they're on the right track.
