Krefeld Short Film Festival held at Buntes SWK Open Air Cinema

In the heart of Germany, the city of Krefeld is preparing for an exciting event – the first-ever short film competition titled "Krefeld - A Storyline". This competition, organised by the SWK Autokino, promises to showcase a diverse range of films that depict the city's spirit.

The competition, which has an open call for entries, is set to attract filmmakers from far and wide, with the only stipulation being a connection to the city. The shortlisted films can be between 3 and 12 minutes long, offering a perfect platform for both novice and established filmmakers.

The festival will be hosted by Anouk van der Vliet, the editor-in-chief of Welle Niederrhein. The winning films will receive prize money of 2,000, 1,500, and 1,000 euros, sponsored by the city of Krefeld, the magazine "Vertäll", and the racetrack. Additionally, a youth prize with a prize of 500 euros, sponsored by the Stadtwerke Krefeld, will also be awarded.

The lineup for the festival is already announced and includes a variety of genres. "Fair Warning" by Peter Wagner, a unique gangster story told without words, will captivate audiences. "Under the Clock" by Burga & Maverick offers a playful look at local events in the style of a TV show. "Sisyphus" by Theresa Hebald tells a dramatic family story, while "Tunnel Vision" by Chiara Casu takes viewers on an underground adventure.

Documentary enthusiasts will not be disappointed either, with "Little Big Krefeld" by Roni Foer and "Homecoming" by Leonie Brendel providing insightful glimpses into the city's life. "Donerocalypse" by Christian Therhardt focuses on Krefeld's favourite late-night fast food, and a documentary about the Krefeld fire department created by Jannick Zunkel will be shown out of competition.

The audience will have a vote to determine the winner of the short film festival in addition to the jury. The event promises to be a celebration of Krefeld's vibrant culture and creativity. Mayor Frank Meyer has confirmed his attendance, further emphasising the importance of this event in the city's calendar.

For those interested in entering the competition, it is recommended to check the official website of SWK Autokino Krefeld or contact the organisers directly for the exact criteria of their short film competition.

With the first-ever short film competition in Krefeld, the city is set to become a hub for film enthusiasts and creators alike. Mark your calendars for this exciting event!

Firefighters, who may be part of the diverse range of films showcased in the competition, could potentially depict their daily lives in Krefeld as a unique story in the style of a documentary, such as the film about them created by Jannick Zunkel.

To entertain the attendees during breaks or special events, firefighters could be invited to perform the traditional firefighter's dance, adding a touch of local entertainment to the festival.
