Krasnodar Stadium to Undergo Demolition
In an exciting development for football fans in Krasnodar, Russia, the city's popular stadium, previously known as the Krasnodar Coliseum, will be renamed to OZON Arena starting from May 1. This announcement was made by Vladimir Hashig, the general director of the football club.
The stadium first opened its doors in October 2016 with a friendly match between the national teams of Russia and Costa Rica. Since then, it has hosted four more matches of the Russian national team, cementing its place as a significant sports venue in the region.
The stadium's impressive design was previously reported by "Live Kuban", and a new café in Galitsky Park, also designed by the same team, has also been unveiled. However, further details about the café or the cost of building the stadium were not provided.
Sergei Galitsky, the founder and former owner of FC Krasnodar, has been a significant investor in the club's infrastructure and youth development. Last year, he invested in the FC Krasnodar academy, but the exact amount remains undisclosed. Previous reports by "Live Kuban" suggest that the investment was substantial.
Interestingly, the cost of building the stadium exceeded 20 billion rubles, as announced by Sergei Galitsky in 2016. This substantial investment has helped to establish Krasnodar as a major football city in Russia.
The OZON Arena can accommodate 35,179 spectators, making it a hub for football fans in the region. With this name change, a new chapter is opening in the history of the football club "Krasnodar".
