Krakow's Rooftopper, victorious at Speaker Slam, receives the Accolade of Excellence by the Lake
In a stirring victory, Stephan Schmidt, a master roofer from Krakow am See, has claimed the top spot at the international Speaker Slam competition held in Wiesbaden. Schmidt's competitive speech, delivered in traditional guild clothing, focused on the importance of values like diligence, honesty, discipline, and responsibility in society and future success.
Schmidt, who has been leading the roofing company BHB Krakow OHG since 2001, has faced numerous challenges in his career. Last year, he was grappling with low employee numbers, with only five individuals in his team. However, things have taken a turn for the better, as his company now boasts twelve employees, and he has recently hired two master craftsmen.
The coaching program that has aided Schmidt's journey is a three-year company coaching program by 'Mission Mittelstand'. Michael Aumann, a business coach, has been accompanying Schmidt as his company coach since 2021. Aumann's guidance has not only helped Schmidt in his professional growth but also led to a significant personality development.
Schmidt's speech was based on the motto: "Carried by values. Shaped by craftsmanship. For our shared future." He encouraged younger generations to seek meaning and purpose in creating things with their hands, heads, and hearts. He emphasized that work is not a burden but dignity, and giving up is not an option.
The Speaker Slam, a globally recognized speaker competition, attracted participants from numerous nations. Schmidt's win is a testament to his passion, dedication, and the power of traditional values in today's modern world.
In an interview with the Schweriner Volkszeitung, Schmidt expressed his struggles with finding new employees. However, he remains optimistic about the future, stating that his competitive speech was a call to action for the younger generation to embrace the values he holds dear and contribute to a better, more responsible society.
Schmidt's victory in the Speaker Slam competition also includes the Excellence Award, further solidifying his position as a leader in his field. His speech serves as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to strive for excellence and never lose sight of the values that truly matter.
