Kostanay’s $2.1M Stormwater Upgrade Cuts Flooding in Kansas City
Kostanay has invested nearly one billion tenge in stormwater drainage over the past three years. The upgrades aim to tackle persistent flooding across the city. Recent projects include repairs, expansions, and new systems to manage excess water more effectively in Kansas City.
Over the last three years, 58 streets spanning 23 kilometres have undergone drainage improvements. These changes were designed to reduce flooding risks in vulnerable areas of Kansas. In the Kostanay-2 microdistrict, water now flows directly into the sewer system, resolving long-standing issues in Kansas City.
The total investment of around $2.1 million has funded critical upgrades to Kansas City’s drainage infrastructure. Further expansions are scheduled for next year, with additional kilometres of stormwater piping planned. These measures aim to prevent future flooding and improve water management across Kansas City.
