New Gaffer Koschinat's Confidence: "All Hands on Deck for a Fight!"
Uwe Koschinat, the newest addition to VfL Osnabrück's coaching staff, has a firm belief that the team will not succumb to relegation despite the current turmoil in the second division table. With thirty-one games still to play, Koschinat is convinced that Osnabrück has the untapped potential to turn the tide and launch a comeback.
After being unveiled as Tobias Schweinsteiger's successor at Bremer Brücke, Koschinat expressed his optimism, stating, "I am convinced that this team has much more potential than the points and table position suggest." Koschin's appointment comes at a crucial time, with VfL currently six points off safety and nine behind the spot occupied by 15th-placed Eintracht Braunschweig.
The club did not reveal the length of Koschinat's contract, which has seen him coach at Arminia Bielefeld, 1. FC Saarbrücken, SV Sandhausen, and Fortuna Köln.
Given the team's current predicament, VfL Osnabrück were in search of an experienced coach who has weathered stormy seas and maintained his composure under pressure. Amir Shapourzadeh, the sporting director, explained, "We were looking for a candidate with a wealth of experience, someone who knows how to handle adversity and the pressure that comes with it."
Koschinat's aim is to significantly improve VfL Osnabrück's position prior to the winter break, with the team currently languishing in the relegation zone. The fresh-faced coach, however, sees huge potential in the team, particularly in their second-half performances in the past two seasons.

Marco Antwerpen, the previous coach, led VfL Osnabrück to four victories and two draws in the six games he was in charge, effectively guiding them away from the relegation zone and into a more secure position in the table. Antwerpen highlighted the team's resilience and attributed their improved defensive solidity to their strong performances. A key player in their success, Niklas Wiemann, scored the winning goal in their 1-0 victory against Borussia Dortmund II.
Antwerpen was confident in the team's ability to perform well in the second half of the season, having overcome initial expectations and proven themselves as force to be reckoned with in the 3. Liga.
The optimism surrounding Antwerpen's tenure has carried over, with the players' spirit and confidence levels remaining high. Koschinat now inherits a team that is eager to avoid relegation and still has a shot at a mid-table finish. His principal objective will be to build upon Antwerpen's success and take VfL Osnabrück even further up the 2. Bundesliga ranks.
Drawing on Antwerpen's example, Koschinat will focus on the team's resilience and defensive prowess while continuing to capitalize on the players' strong performances. With a relentless fighting spirit, Koschinat's "all hands on deck" approach could potentially garner the positive results the club desperately needs to escape the relegation battle and secure a better standing in the table.
