On Friday night, the latest episode of "The Voice of Germany" saw some intense action, with only five of the original 13 contestants moving forward to the final round. This year, rapper Kool Savas joined the coaches, bringing with him a contestant from "The Voice Rap" to compete alongside the other talents. The coaches Bill and Tom Kaulitz were particularly pleased with the outcome, having managed to save more contestants than their competitors.
Unlike Bill and Tom, Shirin David and Ronan Keating each had fewer talents progress to the semi-final. In fact, Giovanni Zarrella found himself in a difficult position, with only one contestant from his team initially making it through. During the live performances, there was also some friendly banter between the coaches, while Kool Savas was on the lookout for new talent, inviting a contestant straight to his studio.
There were a few surprises in store for the contestants and viewers at the end of the live show. Some of the memorable moments included Bill's delight at the prospect of possibly having all five of his team in the final, and the playful exchange between Bill and Ronan following the performance of Naomi, who sang "Fragen Fragen Fragen" by Marlon. Ronan criticized the song choice, while Bill defended naively, prompting Shirin to blame Ronan's criticism on language barriers.
Shirin's talent Finja turned Marteria's "Lila Wolken" into a rousing ballad, capturing the attention of Kool Savas, who immediately offered her a studio collaboration. Unfortunately, Naomi and Finja didn't make it to the final, but five other contestants managed to cheer at the end of the evening.
Malou from Bill and Tom's team delivered an outstanding performance of "People help the people" by Birdy, leaving Shirin thrilled and speechless. Ronan Keating's rocker Egon belted out "Don't stop believin'" and made it to the final with his powerful performance. Shirin David's talent Joy also progressed, while Ronan took both Emely and Desirey to the grand final.
Sadly, Kool Savas and Leon "Ezo" Weick didn't make it to the final, although their performances were certainly memorable. Yet, it's worth noting that Ronan Keating was the only coach with two candidates in the live final the following Friday.
Overall, the show was filled with tension, energy, and unexpected twists, as the contestants fought to secure their spots in the final round.
