Veteran Alexander Rogachev Honoured as Krasnodar's Honorary Citizen

Alexander Rogachev, a 101-year-old veteran of the Great Patriotic War from Krasnodar, has been granted the title of honorary citizen of the city. This recognition comes in acknowledgement of his bravery, service, and contributions during World War II.

Born in 1921, Rogachev joined the front lines shortly after graduating from school in 1942. At the tender age of 19, he was appointed platoon commander, a testament to his leadership skills even at a young age.

Rogachev served in small-caliber artillery and played a significant role in the crossing of the Dnieper. His bravery was rewarded with several prestigious awards, including the Orders of the Patriotic War II degree and the Red Banner, as well as the medal "For Victory over Germany in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945". His most memorable achievement was meeting Victory on the border of Hungary and Czechoslovakia.

After the war, Rogachev moved to Krasnodar in 1953 and dedicated his post-war life to serving the community. He worked as the manager of the Krasnodar Regional Office of "Rossbakaleya" until his retirement.

Veniamin Kondratyev, the Governor of Krasnodar Krai, expressed his admiration for Rogachev in a message on his Telegram channel. He wished Rogachev good health, vitality, and all the best, acknowledging his significant role in the city's history.

Rogachev, who recently celebrated his 101st birthday, is a cherished figure in Krasnodar, with a large and close-knit family who continue to honour his legacy. His story serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made by the generation that fought for freedom during the Great Patriotic War.

Politics in Krasnodar has been threaded with the announcement of Alexander Rogachev as the city's honorary citizen. This recognition, given in acknowledgement of his bravery, service, and contributions during World War II, now positions him as a key figure in the city's general-news narrative.
