Konami rebrands Pro Evolution Soccer to eFootball, unveils trailer for the new football simulator game

eFootball 2022, the latest iteration of the popular soccer simulator, is set to be released in autumn 2022. Developed by Konami and powered by Unreal Engine 4, the game will be available on a wide range of platforms including PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S and X, mobile devices (Android and iOS), and Steam.

The game's monetization will be through optional paid DLC, offering new modes and in-game currency, similar to other free-to-play sports games. However, the exact monetization details have not been fully specified.

Improved Gameplay

eFootball 2022 promises a more realistic and immersive gaming experience. New features include the introduction of Link-up Play for selected managers, allowing two players to combine in special ways for passes and maneuvers. Enhanced player movement reflects realistic pacing, with speedsters running faster, and AI players no longer constantly running at top speed.

Defending has also received significant attention, with new sliding tackle motions, better defender positioning, faster defensive engagement, and smoother transitions from defense to attack. Goalkeeper improvements include new ball throwing motions for quicker releases, and adjustments to kicking commands for set pieces, along with a new Kick Cancel command.

Customization and UI

Customization options abound in eFootball 2022. Players can now decorate their stadiums with various elements in the Custom Stadium mode. The My Team menu allows users to set uniforms and stadium views. New customizable profile options and redesigns for players acquired from special player lists add a personal touch.

Multiple Chance Deals can be used simultaneously, and text language options have been expanded, including the addition of Thai.

Graphical Enhancements

Graphical improvements, particularly for the mobile version, have been made to enhance the visual presentation.

Star Ambassadors

eFootball 2022 boasts legends from different countries as ambassadors, although specific names were not provided in the data. Previous and ongoing iterations often include famous footballers as promotional figures.

Additional Notes

The game emphasises fair play, warning against unauthorised access or scams promising free coins. eFootball serves as a large esports platform, facilitating head-to-head matches worldwide across all supported devices.

Notably, the Pro Evolution Soccer football simulator has been renamed to eFootball. Andrés Iniesta and Gerard Piqué are special consultants for attack and defense in the game.

Lionel Messi's collaboration with eFootball was not previously mentioned. The free version of the game will allow players to manage nine clubs, including Barcelona, Bayern, Juventus, Man Utd, Arsenal, Corinthians, Flamengo, São Paulo, and River Plate. The game began development by Konami in November 2001.

The information provided is from an official press release.

In eFootball 2022, players can expect a more immersive sports experience, specifically in football, as the game offers improved gameplay elements like Link-up Play, enhanced player movement, and revamped defending mechanics.
