Komi’s November 2025 Breaks Century-Old Rainfall Records Amid Wild Weather Swings

The Republic of Komi has experienced an unusually wet and mild November 2025. In just 25 days, precipitation levels reached 108 mm—more than double the monthly average. The region also witnessed a rare thundersnow event in Syktyvkar, adding to the month’s extreme weather patterns.

This November could become the wettest in Komi since records began in 1923. Forecasters warn that an incoming snow-laden cyclone may push totals even higher, potentially surpassing September 2012, the current second-wettest month on record. The average temperature so far has hovered at –0.9°C, far milder than typical for the season.

If the approaching cyclone delivers as forecast, November 2025 will set a century-old rainfall record for Komi. The month’s mix of heavy precipitation, mild temperatures, and sudden cold spells highlights the region’s volatile winter weather. Residents are preparing for both lingering wet conditions and the upcoming deep freeze.
