Komi Republic secures 128 billion rubles in 2025 investment boom
Manufacturing Output in Komi Republic Grows by 2% in 2025
Processing industries in the Komi Republic expanded by 2% in 2025 compared to the previous year, reaching 102% of the prior period's output, acting Minister of Economic Development and Industry Alexey Prosuzhikh announced during the "An Hour with the Minister" public forum hosted by the Civic Chamber of Komi. The initiative, which brings together agency heads to report on their work and field questions from experts and civic activists, was launched on the instruction of Komi's head, Rostislav Goldstein.
Prosuzhikh clarified that the region's processing sector includes oil and associated gas refining, as well as paper and cardboard production. However, he noted broader economic challenges: industrial output declined to 97% of the previous year's level, while mineral extraction fell to 96%, trends he attributed to nationwide patterns.
"Today, the most promising sectors for Komi are the development of small and medium-sized businesses, tourism, agribusiness, and creative industries. Another key priority is adopting municipal waste processing technologies," the head of the Ministry of Economic Development explained.
In 2025, the republic attracted 128 billion rubles in investment—below 2024 levels—but currently hosts 86 investment projects worth a total of 730 billion rubles. Of these, 69 are underway, 12 are planned, and five have been suspended.
"We also anticipate two new forestry projects. Despite export challenges and shifts in the global economy, this remains an attractive sector," Prosuzhikh added.
The acting minister further highlighted Arctic Zone initiatives as a strategic focus, citing projects in Vorkuta—including airport repairs, the Usinsk water pipeline, and road upgrades—as well as other developments. Northern Komi now hosts 42 registered residents, with their combined investments totaling 3 billion rubles.
