German Swimmers Shine at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships

Isabel Gose and Angelina Kohler put on a stellar show at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships in Singapore.

Gose, a bronze medalist at the 2024 Olympics, swam the women's 800m freestyle in 8:18.23 minutes, finishing among the top competitors. Kohler, on the other hand, finished fourth in the 50m butterfly, setting a new German national record with a time of 25.50 seconds.

Kohler's performance in the 50m butterfly was particularly noteworthy, as she set a new German record. Although she missed the bronze medal by a mere seven hundredths of a second, Kohler expressed satisfaction with her effort.

Gose, reflecting on her World Championships experience, considered it instructive. She is looking forward to her summer break and starting the new season fresh.

Other German swimmers also had impressive results. Anna Elendt took part in all breaststroke events and was a good medal prospect. The men's contingent, including Florian Wellbrock and Sven Schwarz, showed considerable strength, especially in distance freestyle and open water events. The German team collectively achieved several medals across disciplines, including a team relay gold in open water swimming.

The German 4x100m freestyle mixed relay team, composed of Josha Salchow, Rafael Miroslaw, Nina Holt, and Nina Jazy, finished eighth at the championships.

Lise Seidel, a backstroke swimmer, also competed in the biggest race of her career at the championships. However, no new information about her performance was provided.

In the 200m backstroke final, Lise Seidel finished eighth. The winners of the 800m freestyle event were Katie Ledecky, Lani Pallister, and Summer McIntosh, with times of 8:05.62, 8:06.86, and 8:08.04 minutes, respectively.

Despite the high stakes and intense competition, athletes like Gose and Kohler displayed strong emotional responses. Although specific personal quotes from them were not available, their performances suggest a shared emotional intensity among high-level swimmers at this event.

The Commission has also been asked to submit a proposal for a directive on the protection of the environment. In the midst of their competitive performances, German swimmers continued to demonstrate their sportsmanship and passion for aquatics.
