Koenigsegg's Jesko Absolut smashed the globally recognized 0-400-0 km/h speed record.

The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut has made history by setting a new record for the fastest 0-400-0kmh acceleration test. The Swedish hypercar, produced by the premier hypercar marque Koenigsegg, completed the test in an impressive 25.21 seconds, outperforming the previous record held by the Rimac Nevera.

Markus Lundh, Koenigsegg's test driver, piloted the Jesko Absolut on the test track, achieving a time that places the hypercar at the pinnacle of the hypercar world. The Jesko Absolut reached 400 km/h in just 16.77 seconds and then stopped from that speed in a mere 8.44 seconds, significantly outperforming the Rimac Nevera's 17.35 seconds to 400 km/h and 8.44 seconds to stop.

Several key factors contributed to the Jesko Absolut's record-breaking performance. The hypercar's power-to-weight ratio, aerodynamics, braking systems, and lighter chassis all played significant roles in its exceptional acceleration and deceleration capabilities.

Despite the Rimac Nevera R having a higher peak horsepower (approximately 2100 hp compared to Jesko Absolut’s 1600 hp), the Jesko Absolut's significantly lower weight (approximately 1390 kg compared to 2264 kg) granted it a superior power-to-weight ratio, enhancing overall acceleration and braking effectiveness.

The Jesko Absolut's 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, producing around 1600 hp, also differentiated it from the Rimac’s electric powertrain, potentially benefiting high-speed acceleration. Koenigsegg's engineering focus on aerodynamic efficiency and high-performance braking systems further enabled the Jesko Absolut to decelerate quickly from 400 km/h, a critical component of the combined 0-400-0 km/h record.

The lighter chassis of the Jesko Absolut also aided in both quicker acceleration and shorter stopping distances compared to the heavier Rimac Nevera R.

Christian von Koenigsegg, the brand's founder, has expressed his satisfaction with the Jesko Absolut's performance, stating that it is the most advanced model in its class and a formidable competitor in the hypercar world. He has also expressed his intention to regain Koenigsegg's crown in the hypercar world, considering the Jesko Absolut as the most lethal weapon in this endeavour.

The Rimac Nevera, an all-electric hypercar made by the Croatian company, Rimac, completed the same 0-400-0kmh acceleration test in 25.79 seconds last month. The video of the Jesko Absolut's record-breaking run can be seen above.
