Koblenz Makes Waves in Smart City Index 2025, Ranking 43rd

Koblenz, a city with fewer than 200,000 inhabitants, has made a notable impact in the Smart City Index 2025. It ranks 43rd, scoring 70.3 out of 100, and shows particular strengths in energy, environment, and education.

Koblenz excels in energy and environment, ranking 6th with 81.0 points, and improves by five places compared to the previous year. However, in mobility, it ranks 59th with 61.2 points, though it improves by three places. The city makes a significant leap in society and education, ranking 40th with 76.6 points, a 35-place improvement. In the IT and communication category, Koblenz ranks 66th with 65.1 points, losing seven places. Nationwide, Koblenz improves by twelve places, ranking 43rd among the most digital large cities in Germany. In the state comparison, Koblenz is mid-pack, with Trier leading the ranking in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Koblenz's overall performance in the Smart City Index 2025 shows progress, particularly in energy, environment, and society and education. While there's room for improvement in mobility and IT communication, the city's advancements reflect a commitment to smart city development.
