Knicks Advance to 3-1 in Campaign for Championship

The NY Knicks edged past the Boston Celtics in a tense Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals, taking an unassailable 3-1 lead in the series on May 13, 2025.

The Celtics' superstar, Jayson Tatum, took a hit to the eye, plunging him into a worrying situation after a nasty fall in the final minutes of the game. Even though the Knicks managed to pull ahead, 104-113, there was no denying that Tatum's unfortunate accident left the Celtics reeling.

Tatum, who contributed an impressive 42 points prior to the incident, is scheduled for an MRI on Wednesday, May 14, to determine the full extent of his injury.

"He's the kind of guy who gets right back up," commented Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla. "He didn't and it's tough to watch a guy like him get carried off like that."

Tatum's injury has left the Celtics without their primary scoring force since the incident. Historically, teams that have come back from a 1-3 deficit are rare.

"It's not impossible for the Celtics," some experts have said. However, the likelihood of them pulling off a remarkable comeback without Tatum seems slim.

Points scored:

New York (121)- Brunson 39, Towns 23, Bridges 23, Anunoby 20, McBride 6, Hart 6, Robinson 4.

Boston (113)- Tatum 42, White 23, Brown 20, Pritchard 12, Porzingis 7, Horford 5, Holiday 4.

Note: Jayson Tatum suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals against the New York Knicks on May 13, 2025. He is expected to miss the remaining part of the 2025 playoffs and potentially the entire 2025-26 regular season as a result of his injury.[1][2]

The incident involving Jayson Tatum's ruptured Achilles tendon during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference semi-finals has left the basketball world anxiously waiting for his recovery. Despite his massive contribution of 42 points to the Celtics before the incident, his absence will undoubtedly have a significant impact on NBA sports, particularly on the remaining games of the series against the NY Knicks.
