Arminia Bielefeld's Desperate Plea for Space - Kniat's Call for Liberation
Struggling to breathe in the relegation battle, Arminia Bielefeld is yearning for some respite before the winter break. With 21 points to their name, they're hanging on in lower mid-table of the third division, just 7 points away from the drop zone. An away victory against Hallescher FC, scheduled for 7pm tomorrow, is of utmost importance.
Coach Mitch Kniat (38) voices his concerns, "Halle's a tough opponent. But we're determined to snatch three points. There might be one or two alterations to the starting lineup." Kniat is particularly displeased with Arminia's shaky defensive performance. Their backline, which has allowed 28 goals, has been conceding silly mistakes for weeks.
His frustration is understandable, "We've been quite stingy with chances recently, but the few we get seem to always result in goals. We need to put in more effort and not surrender so much ground. That way, the opposition won't have easy access to our penalty area and won't score cheap goals as easily. The same issue was prevalent during the match against Aue."
Arminia's ambition of a top-three finish is currently just a distant dream. Kniat, however, stays pragmatic, "Given our current situation, we can't afford to keep a close eye on the relegation zone. The gap has to widen now, and then everything else will fall into place."
Midfielder Nassim Boujellab, who's recovered from an injury, could return to the starting lineup in Halle. Kniat remarks, "Nassim's fit and raring to go. He's a game changer, which is why he could feature in the starting lineup."
