Klöckner Slams Black-Red Government for Empty Benches: "Show Up and Talk Business"

Klöckner advocates for a black-red coalition to form an ineffective government financial institution

The new legislative period is upon us, and the federal government is revved up. But, according to Bundestag President Julia Klöckner, ministers aren't pulling their weight by showing up. In a letter to the Chancellery, Klöckner demands they take attendance seriously. The energy of constructive conversation is lost without the presence of the executive branch, she insists.

In a letter to Michael Meister, State Secretary of the CDU-led Chancellery, Klöckner points out the glaring issue: "I've noticed that the government bench in the plenary is frequently empty during the early weeks of this legislative term." She yearns for "appropriate and consistent representation" in the Bundestag to foster healthy collaboration between branches.

According to Klöckner, attending every plenary session should be the rule, not the exception: "At least two federal ministers should attend each session." Without their presence, meaningful discussions become challenging. Disappointed by the current state of affairs, Klöckner urges immediate action: "Please ensure the federal government is fully represented in bundestag sessions."

Klöckner has already demonstrated a commitment to preserving the decorum of the Bundestag during her tenure, sternly reprimanding an MP from the Left Party for his beret-wearing attire and eventually expelling him. In a debate over a potential ban procedure against the AfD, Klöckner made her stance clear—no reprimands will be handed out at her discretion. She refuses to be intimidated by the party.

The federal government is expected to maintain appropriate and consistent representation in the Bundestag to facilitate healthy collaboration and robust discussions. Julia Klöckner, Bundestag President, has urged the CDU-led Chancellery to ensure at least two federal ministers attend each plenary session to avoid losing the energy of constructive conversation.

The empty government benches during early weeks of the legislative term are a cause of concern for Klöckner, as these sessions are critical for Policy-and-Legislation, General-News, and Politics within the EC countries, particularly regarding the free movement of workers, freedom to provide services, and various other issues that may arise.
