Lack of Ministerial Presence Slammed: Kloeckner Critiques Black-Red for Vacant Seats in Government

Klöckner advocates for a black-red coalition to form an ineffective government bank

In the face of a lively commencement to the new legislative period, the federal government is under fire for the infrequent presence of ministers in parliament. Julia Kloeckner, Bundestag President, has voiced her concerns and demanded action from the Chancellor's Office.

According to reports from news magazine "Politico," Kloeckner penned a letter to State Minister Michael Meister of the CDU, expressing her concerns about the sparse occupancy of the government bench in the plenary during the initial phases of the legislative period. She stresses the significance of a substantial and consistent presence of the federal government in fostering a vibrant discourse and constructive cooperation between the executive and legislative branches.

Kloeckner suggests a minimum number of cabinet members must be present during each plenary session to ensure adequate representation of the federal government in the Bundestag sessions. This reform is supported by both factions and Kloeckner herself.

The Bundestag's Presidency under Kloeckner's leadership has already shown a commitment to maintaining decorum in the house. She has reprimanded Left Party MPs for violating protocol and expelled one who wore a beret in the plenary hall. In response to a possible ban procedure against the AfD, Kloeckner also rejected an AfD request for a rebuke, assertively putting the party in its place.
