KL Jazz In The Park returns with free fusion performances on April 18
Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) is hosting a free jazz festival on April 18 at Panggung Anniversari in Perdana Botanical Gardens. The KL Jazz In The Park event will run from 2pm to 11pm, featuring four well-known local bands and ensembles. Attendees must register in advance to secure their spot.
The festival's line-up includes Tuku' Kame', a group led by composer Narawi Rashidi. Their music blends traditional instruments from over 30 Borneo ethnic groups. The band gained recognition after winning four gold medals at the 2009 World Championships of Performing Arts in Los Angeles. No further international awards have been reported since then.
**Akasha** will also take the stage, merging traditional Malay and Indian classical instruments with modern Western sounds. **Traditopia**, a 13-piece ensemble, will perform a mix of jazz, funk, and ethnic fusion, drawing inspiration from Malay mythology and folklore. The final act, **Attap Band**, serves as DBKL's official musical ensemble. Beyond live performances, the event will offer food trucks and roadside coffee stalls. Registration is open now via the official link: https://tempahkl.dbkl.gov.my/eticket/event?id=37.
The KL Jazz In The Park festival brings together diverse musical styles in a free outdoor setting. With performances spanning traditional, contemporary, and fusion genres, the event aims to celebrate local talent. Those interested must register online to attend.
