Police Accidentally Discover Surfers in Distress - Kitesurfers Rescued in Dramatic Fehmarn Sound Operation

Two young kitesurfers were rescued from the Fehmarn Sound on Monday evening after being spotted in distress from the Fehmarn Sound Bridge. The combined efforts of police officers from the Schengen task force and lifeguards ensured their safety.

The rescue operation began when vigilant observers on the bridge noticed the kitesurfers in trouble. The kites were in the water, and the people were drifting west with the current. Police officers maintained contact with lifeguards, who searched for the water sports enthusiasts with two boats. As darkness approached, the rescue became more challenging. Despite the difficulties, two police officers from the joint investigation group Schengen managed to locate and rescue the young woman and man.
