Kings land Artemi Panarin in blockbuster trade with Rangers
The Los Angeles Kings have acquired star forward Artemi Panarin from the New York Rangers in a major trade. The deal sends Liam Greentree, a conditional 2026 third-round pick, and a conditional 2028 fourth-round pick to New York. Panarin has immediately agreed to a two-year contract worth $11 million per season with Los Angeles.
Panarin brings an impressive track record to the Kings. This season alone, he recorded 19 goals and 38 assists in 52 games for the Rangers. Over his 11-year career, he has maintained a point-per-game average in over 800 regular-season matches—one of only 10 active skaters to achieve this feat.
His consistency is unmatched, with 11 straight 50-point campaigns. As an undrafted player, he stands alone as the only active skater with at least 300 career goals. His rookie season with the Chicago Blackhawks saw him lead all first-year players in goals, assists, and total points.
The Rangers, who retain 50% of Panarin's salary through 2025-26, have never won a Stanley Cup despite his playoff contributions. His trade marks a significant shift for both teams as the Kings strengthen their roster with a proven offensive talent.
Panarin's arrival bolsters the Kings' attack with a player known for elite scoring and playmaking. His two-year deal secures his presence in Los Angeles until at least 2026. The Rangers, meanwhile, gain draft assets and a young forward in Greentree as they reshape their lineup.
